This video is our Power Hour group in action. We have 3 volunteers working the tables, while Miss Melanie was stationed at the homework check center. It’s so quiet you can actually hear the math games going on in the gym! Click on the YouTube video link: http://youtu.be/FIDxKBVyvbk
Meanwhile, in the gym, Miss Krissy was making math more fun! Click on the YouTube video link: http://youtu.be/-I4Dfc_VS9M

Dena Marie Kern - Unit Director, Lompoc Clubhouse
A former Lompoc Board Member of United Boys & Girls Clubs from 1997-2000, Dena Marie Kern was hired as Unit Director in 2000. Over the past eleven years, she lead the Lompoc Clubhouse though several renovations, and implemented significant changes supporting the needs of the youth in her community. As a Unit Director, Ms. Kern has significantly increased community and business involvement in an effort to create a seamless safety net for the youth participating in the Club's programs.
Under her leadership, Lompoc has hired a team of youth development professionals that equally share her vision of having quality programs for the youth. Though targeted collaboration efforts, the main clubhouse and four school site programs have aligned with the Lompoc Unified School District and Santa Barbara County Education Offices. These relationships are an on-going part of Dena's strategy to support each member’s academic needs by becoming an extension of the regular school day, but in a "fun-learning" environment.
Dena believes that all youth are at risk and each member deserves the same opportunities to succeed. As Unit Director, her professionalism has positively impacted Lompoc's five sites and its profile in the community.
