Summer Staff Positions - Thank you for your interest in employment at Camp Whittier for the summer of 2012! Employment is four weeks, including paid staff training week and three one-week sessions. Most start dates are between June 27 & July 2, depending on the position and conclude July 27th, 2012. (July 4th will be a day off) Salaries listed are for the full salary, plus show the weekly rate. Room & board is provided. All employees must be a minimum age of 18.
Staff Positions Available:
Counselor in Training Directors -Female & Male- Develop and implement a challenging and fun training for youth ages 14-17 in the Counselor-in-Training programs. Teach leadership and skills for working with youth. Previous experience with camp counseling and teens is required. Minimum age 21. Starts June 18, 2012 ($310/week)
Aquatic Staff (Lifeguards) - Must have a high degree of competency of the aquatic environment. Teach, lead and supervise all swimming and pool activities. Maintain pool chemicals and surrounding areas. Assist with all-camp events and camp activities as needed. Current Lifeguard Training is required, WSI or equivalent desired. Starts July 2, 2012. ($350/week)
Challenge Specialists - Must have a high degree of competency in the challenge course area. Facilitate initiatives, low ropes, high ropes, and rock wall activities for groups of campers of various ages. Must be able to safety check and maintain the ropes course (high and low), rock wall and equipment. Documented facilitator training and experience is required. Starts July 2, 2012. ($350/week)
Health Care Staff - Responsible for first aid and health care of all campers and staff. Advise counselors on appropriate handling of campers' special needs and medical issues. Administer medications and first aid. Work under a physician's standing orders. Qualifications: RN, LPN, student nurse, graduate nurse, EMT, paramedic or physician. Minimum age 21, Starts June 27, 2012. ($430/week- #1 Medic) ($350/week- Medic Assistant)
Counselors - Lead, guide and provide activity leadership for 6-10 campers of a similar age group in camp activities, group living and personal development. Counselors need experience in camping and working with children. Starts July 2, 2012 ($250/week)
Naturalist- Must have a high degree of competency of the natural environment. Must be able to teach campers the basics of natural history, ecology, environmental science, etc. Starts June 25th, 2012. ($350/week)
Music & Drama Specialists (2- one music, one drama)- Must have a high degree of competency of drama & musical arts. Must be able to provide instruction fro campers in musical arts, provide resources for musical instruments and ideas. Starts July 2, 2012. ($300/week)
Support Staff - Janitorial & Kitchen help needed. PT, flexable hours. Some training a plus, but come with a positive attitude and we will train. Starts June 11 - August 31st. Pay DOE.
